What is Pixhilarity?

Over the years that I've been online (twelve and counting) I have collected a large number of pictures that I found either funny or interesting. I used to throw these up on a photo gallery that I ran on my website. Friends of mine would show gallery to their friends, and people enjoyed the site. I had one guy tell me it made a great source of comedy when he brought it up on a screen at a party.

Eventually, however, the gallery got too unwieldily for the purpose, and as the Web2.0 phenomenon took off I realized that people might like to add their own contents to the archive. So, I made Pixhilarity, a dynamic database of images for anyone to contribute to. Pixhilarity is a little bit of ircimages, a little bit of QDB, and just a tiny bit of 4chan

What Should I Post?

The purpose of Pixhilarity is to bring joy to the viewer. Every image posted to the site needs to cause some sort of favorable emotional response, either in the form of laughter, or an exclamation of surprise or awe ("Whoa, that's cool!"). If you can't attach an adjective to the image, it doesn't belong on the site.

Adult content is welcome, but please add the nsfw tag to the image when you submit it so that people know it is not safe for viewing at work.

What Not To Post...

Anyone with a registered account is allowed to post images to the site. Registration is free, and comes with other benefits (such as being able to delete comments made by anonymous users.). But just like any community, there are rules you have to follow. Any image that does not follow these rules will be deleted from the server. If you continue to post images that violate these rules, your account will be locked.

• Do Not Post Anything Illegal. I shouldn't have to say this.
• Nothing Gory If there's blood or dismembered flesh, keep it to yourself.
• No Syndicated Comics If it appears in print, don't put it on the site. It causes too many copyright concerns.
  Exceptions To This Rule: If the comic has been altered from its original form, this is allowed, but it needs to be a clear alteration from the original media. Web-comics are also ok, but you MUST put the URL to the web-comic in the caption.
• If it's just porn, don't bother. Anyone can get porn anywhere from a billion sources on the internet, we don't need it here. If the image is pornographic in nature, there needs to be something funny about it. Examples (NSFW): 393, 366, 358, 280
• Nothing from ICanHasCheezburger. We all love LOLCats, and there are a lot of them on this site, but they MUST be original works. If it has the ICanHasCheezburger watermark, it will be deleted.
